ABOUT REBEL BULLY GEEK PARIAH:
“The Breakfast Club” gets a modern, high-stakes reboot in this story of four very different teens and a night that changes them forever.
The Rebel: Once popular, Andi is now a dreadlocked, tattooed wild child.
The Bully: York torments everyone who crosses his path, especially his younger brother.
The Geek: Tired of being bullied, Boston is obsessed with getting into an Ivy League college.
The Pariah: Choosing to be invisible has always worked for Sam . . . until tonight.
When Andi, York, Boston, and Sam find themselves hiding in the woods after a party gets busted by the cops, they hop into the nearest car they see and take off—the first decision of many in a night that will change their lives forever. By the light of day, these four would never be caught dead together, but when their getaway takes a dangerously unpredictable turn, sticking together could be the only way to survive.
With cinematic storytelling and compelling emotional depth, critically acclaimed author Erin Jade Lange takes readers on literary thrill ride.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an advanced reviewer copy for an honest review.
REBEL BULLY GEEK PARIAH is a fantastic book that took me back to one of my favorite movies but was still fresh. It definitely made me want to go and watch The Breakfast Club again, although I think this book may be just as good if not better than the movie. I couldn’t put it down and flew through the pages. This book is narrated by Sam who is the Pariah and like the character Allison from the movie. It does go back and forth with before and after, so you do get some backstory on what they were like before. You soon get the other characters but it is all from Sam’s perspective.
Sam is telling her mom the story about what happened and how she got in the mess she is in. One bad decision leads to another and it soon becomes a domino effect. Sam is fired from work and goes to a pawn shop to buy her mom a gift. She soon realizes that she doesn’t have enough money when Andi a girl she knows from school taunts her about taking it. Soon Andi is running out the store with it and Sam is running after her.
Both girls are running through the woods and stumble on a party. Andi and Sam see two boys fighting. Sam tells York, the bigger one, to stop it and leave the smaller one alone. Soon they all hear cops, and they are there busting up the party and citing people. None of them want to get in trouble so they look for a way out. This soon leads to them taking the wrong car, someone getting hurt and them on the run.
Soon this group of misfits, each with their own set of problems, are forced to deal with one another. Everyone likes to judge one another and assume they know what each other is dealing with but they really don’t.
Sam has always had a crush on York but thought he was a jerk. She thinks, can’t a hot guy be nice? Is that really who he is? What has happened to each of them to make them the way they are? Why does Sam want to be invisible? Can these four very different people find friendship in the most unexpected place or will they hang the others out to dry when the time comes? You have to read this incredible book to find out!
I really loved this book. All of the characters were so different and yet balanced each other so well. I loved the dynamic between the brothers York and Boston, that was probably one of my favorite parts of the story. Sam was a great character that you have real empathy for. I will forever cherish this book and this is a book that I would read more than once. I am giving this book 5 out of 5 Stars.

Erin writes facts by day and fiction by night. As a journalist, she is inspired by current events and real-world issues and uses her writing to explore how those issues impact teenagers.
She is an only child, so she spent a lot of time entertaining herself as a kid. This required her to rely heavily on her own imagination, which is probably why she became a writer.
