Devil’s Rock, #1
Avon Books
Release Date: March 29, 2016

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Some men come with a built-in warning label. Knox Callaghan is one of them. Danger radiates from every lean, muscled inch of him, and his deep blue eyes seem to see right through to Briar Davis’s most secret fantasies. But there’s one major problem: Briar is a nurse volunteering at the local prison, and Knox is an inmate who should be off-limits in every way.

Knox feels it too—a shocking animal magnetism that drives him to risk his own life to protect Briar’s. Paroled at last, he tries to resist her. She’s too innocent, too sweet, and she has no idea what Knox is capable of. But a single touch can lead to a kiss—and a taste . . . until the only crime is denying what feels so right . . .

I would like to thank the author for providing me with an advance copy for an honest review.

All Chained Up has all the hot, intense-passion we have come to expect from Sophie’s books!!! The pain and struggle of the characters and how they have to cope with the demons from their past adds to the dynamics in their journey. I loved that Sophie has ventured into the Contemporary-Romance genre. The characters were mature and raw. It’s starting set out in a prison added to the intensity of the story.  I loved the chemistry between Knox and Briar, and can’t wait to see if they make an appearance in any of the other books.  I will never look at Cherry Garcia Ice Cream the same way again!!! :p

Briar is starting a new volunteer job with her boss. She is going with him to help out at the prison as a nurse. She wants to make advancements at the private practice and hopes that this will set her apart.

Knox is just trying to survive the hell he is in. If he doesn’t think about it, or what could be, then he can make it through the day-to-day dangers. He soon finds himself in a fight and ends up needing medical attention. That is when he meets Briar. He sees she doesn’t belong. She looks scared and nervous. He wants to know what she is doing here if she doesn’t want to be. He knows the sharks are going to swim when they find out blood is in the water, meaning a woman is in the prison. He starts to worry for her.

Briar starts to think about Knox and look at him in a way she knows she shouldn’t. She knows there is no future. She just feels drawn to him and hasn’t felt this way in so long.

Knox soon finds out from North, his brother that Briar is in danger. There are no lengths that he won’t go to help her.

What will happen to Knox when he is willing to put so much on the line for someone else? Can Briar really see someone like Knox in her life? Will Briar’s family and friends accept her seeing someone like him? You have to read this book to find out!

All Chained Up is about finding a way to move past your mistakes, forgiving yourself and see that you can be worth love. I loved the relationship between North and Knox and cannot wait for more of that. I am excited for North’s story. I just want to give North a hamburger and sex!!! It was so emotional when Knox and North have a conversation at the prison about what they want and expect from each other for the future. This was a great beginning to a new genre for Sophie and I am giving it 4.5 out of 5 Stars, and would definitely recommend it.

Sophie Jordan took her adolescent daydreaming one step further and penned her first historical romance in the back of her high school Spanish class. This passion led her to pursue a degree in English and History.

A brief stint in law school taught her that case law was not nearly as interesting as literature – teaching English seemed the natural recourse. After several years teaching high school students to love Antigone, Sophie resigned with the birth of her first child and decided it was time to pursue the long-held dream of writing.

In less than three years, her first book, Once Upon A Wedding Night, a 2006 Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Nominee for Best First Historical, hit book shelves. Her second novel, Too Wicked To Tame, released in March 2007 with a bang, landing on the USA Today Bestseller’s List.
