But Wil must decide whether a cosmically doomed love is worth rejecting her mother’s legacy, when she falls for a sensitive guitar player hailing from the wrong side of the chart.
Debut author Darcy Woods explores love in all its complexities and how to best honor the loved ones who have passed before us, in a novel packed with both humor and heart.
I would like to thank the publisher for proving me with an advance copy of Summer of Supernovas for an honest review.
Summer of Supernovas is quirky, cute, funny, and charming! There is amazing chemistry and I loved the friendships and family dynamics that really enriched the story. So many great life questions are addressed in this book. Are our lives better if we allow science to help us guide our future choices? Can love only cause us heartache in the long run if not with the person who aligns with our stars? This book was so great because of all the struggles that Wilamena fights within her own self to figure out, what she believes and what she wants.
Wil meets a charming boy named Grant who tries to be a hero and ends up inviting her out to make up for the misunderstanding. She made her mother a promise a long time ago that she would not fall in love with the wrong person and that she would make sure that their astrology charts were aligned.
When Wil goes to the club Grant invites her to, she soon meets Seth, a cute and charming boy who happens to align with her. She also is being pursued by Grant and the connection between them is undeniable. They both love music, and seem to appreciate the simpler things. She just can’t get over that he is all wrong for her according to his birthday.
Wil accepts going out with Seth, and finds out that Seth is Grant’s brother. Grant soon backs off and tries to respect their relationship. Seth has never felt this way about a girl and neither has Grant. The problem is that Wil can’t figure out what she wants.
Will Wilamena’s indecisiveness drive both of them away? Can Wil trust her heart or will she trust the stars? Will hurts from the past need to be healed? You have to read this book to find out.
Summer of Supernovas is fast paced and such a fun read, I really enjoyed it! I loved the friend Irina, she is strong, and vulnerable. I really hope to get a companion novel for her because this really only scratched the surface of her story. She has so many thing that I wanted to delve into in her past and uncover that were making her angry and sad. I just really felt she had grit and want to see her growth, fingers crossed. I would recommend this book and I am giving it 4 out of 5 stars.
Young adult author Darcy Woods had three big loves in grade school: Reading, writing, and pizza day. Some things never change. She lives in Michigan with her madly supportive husband, two tuxedo cats (who overdress for everything) and a closet full of neatly organized shoes. Once upon a time, she served in a US Army aviation unit and threw live grenades. Now she throws words.
Darcy’s Golden Heart®-winning debut YA romance, SUMMER OF SUPERNOVAS, comes out from Random House/Crown May 10, 2016.
(3) winners will receive a finished copy of SUMMER OF SUPERNOVAS, US Only.
