Rosemary Beach, #13
Atria Books
Release Date: June 28, 2016

Rating: 5 Stars

#1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines returns to Rosemary Beach one last time in this highly-anticipated finale and much beloved series.

Spoiled. Selfish. Rich girl. Villain. Slut.

As the Prada-clad bad girl of Rosemary Beach, Nan Dillon has been called every vile name under the hot summer sun. Some of her reputation is deserved—she’s never had to worry about anything but maintaining her perfect figure and splitting Daddy’s private jet with her brother, Rush.

But Nan is far from happy. Rush has another kid on the way and doesn’t have time to catch up with his sister. Grant, the last guy she truly cared about, chose to be with her half-sister, Harlow, instead of her. And Harlow, who has never gotten over the way Nan treated her when she first moved to town, remains distant.

So when Major asks her out, she jumps at the chance to date the gorgeous charmer. Though she doesn’t know much about the sweet-talking Texan, and though it’s clear he doesn’t want to be exclusive, dating him beats hanging out with vapid socialites or watching Netflix alone at home.

For a while, Nan deals with Major’s playboy ways, but after he burns her one too many times, she takes off for an impromptu wild weekend in Vegas. There, she meets Gannon, a darkly seductive and oh-so-dangerous businessman who knows exactly how to handle her.

With Major asking for a second chance and Gannon haunting her dreams, Nan has to decide who to give her heart to. But what she doesn’t realize is that these players are involved in a much bigger game—and they’re already two moves ahead of her.

I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an early copy of Up in Flames for an honest review.

Up in Flames was so much better than I thought it was going to be, it was FANTASTIC!!! Nan seemed so irredeemable and unlikable through the who series but I feel that this book really helped me understand her better. It wasn’t that it made excuses for her, and trust me she says who she is and claims what she is done, but have you ever wanted to put the past behind you and just grow up and be different. That is how I see Nan. You also see some of how the past made her feel, and her vulnerability.

You get 3 Main POV’s in this book, Nan, Major and Cope. Major and Nan are both in a casual relationship but Nan is sick of Major always pushing her away and not treating her special. Major likes Nan and thinks she is great but also that she is high maintenance and he can’t give her more or he will hurt her.

Major is told by Cope if he can’t get some important information from Nan then he will. Soon Nan is sick of feeling rejected by Major and goes to Vegas, where she meets a new man. He is strong, and dangerous, and all man, nothing like Major. He tells her like it is and doesn’t play games, she has never had anything like this.

Will this new guy be too good to be true? Will Major fight for her once he finds out or will it be to late? You have to read this amazing end to a great series!

I loved the chemistry in Up in Flames, and every detail and conversation never felt forced. I was so happy that I could say I could connect with Nan in ways of wanting to change and be accepted, but also trying to be strong so as not to show your vulnerability. I cannot wait to read what comes next from Abbi since her books just get better and better! I am giving Up in Flames 5 out of 5 stars.

Orlando Tour Highlights

I would like to thank the Orange County Library for hosting the event and for Sarah N. Fisk for arranging it when I tagged her and asked for to help make it possible for an Orlando signing. It was great that it worked out and the location was very nice.

I was so excited to see Abbi again, especially for this tour since it is to be the final book in the Rosemary Beach series. She talked about her goal was not write Nan as a character that made people like her or maybe understood her better. I personally thought she accomplished that.

She was asked what couple was her favorite to write and she said it was West and Maggie from Until Friday Night. Writing about his struggle with a family member with cancer was very personal, since she has personally known many to suffer from cancer.

Abbi talked about an upcoming standalone for 2017, and that she has many more stories ready if they pick them up for The Field Party series. She has signed for 3 books so far.

Abbi was so great answering everyone’s questions, and coming out in the rain to speak and sign our books. She did this all with a smile on her face and humor. I can’t wait to read what comes next and see her again.
