The thrilling finale to the New York Times bestselling Young Elites series from “hit factory” Marie Lu.

There was once a time when darkness shrouded the world, and the darkness had a queen.

Adelina Amouteru is done suffering. She’s turned her back on those who have betrayed her and achieved the ultimate revenge: victory. Her reign as the White Wolf has been a triumphant one, but with each conquest her cruelty only grows. The darkness within her has begun to spiral out of control, threatening to destroy all that she’s achieved.

Adelina’s forced to revisit old wounds when a new danger appears, putting not only Adelina at risk, but every Elite and the very world they live in. In order to save herself and preserve her empire, Adelina and her Roses must join the Daggers on a perilous quest—though this uneasy alliance may prove to be the real danger.

Bestselling author Marie Lu concludes Adelina’s story with this haunting and hypnotizing final installment to the Young Elites series.

Review

I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an advance copy of The Midnight Star for an honest review.

The Midnight Star is by far my favorite ending to a book-to-date!!! This book gave me what I needed from beginning to end, in such a beautiful way. It made me cry several times, so make sure you have tissues when you read! As a huge fan of this series from the start, I was so excited for this book and it met every expectation. I have loved Adelina’s journey into darkness and how she wants love and acceptance but can’t even seem to understand herself.

Adelina has been obsessed with revenge and power. Her own power has started to corrupt her mind, and make her see things and become paranoid. Now Adelina is feeling alone and like she must conquer the world. She wants her people to be willing to obey her, to fear and love her. She becomes more and more concerned with the rebels acting out.

Soon Adelina gets word from Raffaele of a dire situation that concerns her sister and all the Elites. Adelina is worried it could be a trap but knows she must go. Her only real comfort is that Magiano will be at her side. He is really the only one she can trust.

Will Adelina’s actions lead to her demise or to others? Can a world survive with powers that were never meant to exist?

The Midnight Star is full of action, redemption, hope and romance. The folklore at the end was just the best way to end the series. The way that Marie threaded that throughout the series was beautiful. I loved that mythology and gods were touched on more in the last book. I felt that the last book just hit all marks for me. I would so recommend reading this series and book, and I am giving The Midnight Star 5 out of 5 Stars.

Interview with Marie Lu on Tour

This is a blog hop interview so hop on over to Seeing Double In Neverland for the full additional questions.
The first 5 questions are character questions.
2. (Raffaele) Do you think being beautiful is an advantage or disadvantage in the world you live in?
Raffaele would probably say. Since he is the practical person that he is, he would probably say it is in an advantage. Even though clearly he has been through some crap because of his beauty. It probably saved his life when he was young, so I am sure he was grateful for that. But being in the pleasure courts is not the best place in the world. He has gone through a lot. I know that is a mixed answer.
4. (Violetta) What do you admire most about your sister?
She is not afraid in the sense that I am. Violetta is a person who cares very much for Adelina but is very much afraid for her well being. I think she would be very envious of Adelina’s ability to strike out at others, to rain down fury and revenge on people who have been mean to her. That is not really in Violetta’s nature but I am sure there is a part of her that wishes she could do the same.
6. Are you considering writing any short stories for Magiano and Enzo?
I would love to in the future. Nothing is set in stone. Right now I do not have any plans to do that, but there is definitely a lot to their pasts for both of them that could be explored. There is several characters that I would want to explore a little bit.
8. Do you have any considerations of doing a coloring book or have they discussed it with you for any of your novels and if so would you collaborate on it with your work?
That is a really fun question. I talked about this a little bit with my agent but we have not done anything more then that. I think it would be really fun, I think the coloring book thing has been a really interesting cool new addition to a lot of stories. It is therapeutic, you get to create works of art. I would love to do something like that if the opportunity comes up. So if we are lucky enough. (so we need to sign a petition)
9. This question comes from a blogger group. Have you done any illustrations for Ballaris?

I had one rough sketch early on and I had it uploaded somewhere. It was part of a larger picture of Kennetra itself, it was like a 3-D quarter view of the island nation and there were Ballaris circling around. Maybe I will draw a full one someday.
