Mira Minkoba is the Hopebearer. Since the day she was born, she’s been told she’s special. Important. Perfect. She’s known across the Fallen Isles not just for her beauty, but for the Mira Treaty named after her, a peace agreement which united the seven islands against their enemies on the mainland.

But Mira has never felt as perfect as everyone says. She counts compulsively. She struggles with crippling anxiety. And she’s far too interested in dragons for a girl of her station.

Then Mira discovers an explosive secret that challenges everything she and the Treaty stand for. Betrayed by the very people she spent her life serving, Mira is sentenced to the Pit–the deadliest prison in the Fallen Isles. There, a cruel guard would do anything to discover the secret she would die to protect.

No longer beholden to those who betrayed her, Mira must learn to survive on her own and unearth the dark truths about the Fallen Isles–and herself–before her very world begins to collapse.

Dragon Legends

I love different types of dragons and the many worlds that they come from. Where did they all come from? Are all these dragon’s we see in the movies and read in books the types of dragons that started off in the legends in myths or have writers with their wonderful imagination changed things? I know a variety of different dragons a mentioned in Jodi’s book for instance.

In European legends and myths depicted with 6 limbs (four legs and two wings). They  were believed to have animal level intellect. These dragons are fire breathing and hid out in a cave.

The Chinese legends of dragons that later spread to Japan, Korea and other Southern & Eastern Asian Countries. They were four legged, snake like, with high level of intelligence. They were believed to be very powerful and be good luck. They also had power over the elements.

The Sea Dragon was started as part of an ancient Mesopotamian religion. Tiamat was sometimes described as a sea serpent or dragon and was believed to have given birth to dragons, scorpion men and merpeople.

I know there is so much more information out there and I would love to open it up to discussion. So please, comment with some of the myths and legends you have heard and from where!
