Greta loves her job as assistant librarian. She loves her best friend, Will, the high school civics teacher and debate coach. She even loves her mother despite her obvious disappointment that Greta is still single.
Then she meets Mac in the poetry section of the library, and she is smitten. Mac is heart-stoppingly gorgeous and showers her with affection, poetic text messages, and free hot chocolate at the local café where he works. The only problem is that he seems to be a different person in his texts than in his face-to-face conversation.
When the Franklin Library is threatened with closure, Greta leaps into action. She arranges for a “battle of the bands” book jam, hosts a book signing by a famous author, and finally, stages a protest that raises more than a few eyebrows.
Through it all, she slowly realizes that it is Will, not Mac, who she turns to for support and encouragement. Mac has the looks; Will has the heart. How can she choose between them?
Check Me Out is a contemporary romance–with just a hint of Cyrano de Bergerac–that reminds us that it is what’s on the inside that matters most.
I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an early copy of Check Me Out for an honest review.
Check Me Out is a sweet, fun, romantic read! I love that there is proper romances out there and that you can read an adult relationship romance and have the option not to read all the sexual situations. I personally like both but like that it is an option and know many who do not. I work with my local library and have librarians in my family. I can say I appreciated the focus on how important our libraries are. They create a community and are for people of all ages and this book really captures this!
Greta is an assistant librarian who loves her job and when it is threatened and she tries to think of ways to keep it from shutting down. Her best-friend Will is always there for her to talk to and to give her whatever she wants including a gorgeous new guy named Mac.
Greta hated it that Will had such a hard time in school with girls since he was overweight but since college it has not been as much of an issue. Greta just sees him as her best-friend though.
Will Mac be the one for Gretta or is it just superficial? Can Gretta save the library from shutting down? You have to read to find out!
Check Me Out is a cute fast paced read. I only took issue with the fact that Will’s weight was brought up so much. I know that it was a part of the story but I thought that it became a hindrance at some point. I believe that most people look at appearance at first because we don’t know a person but when we know someone we love the personality and soul of the person. Who they are. I am giving this book 3 out 5 stars.
