I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an early copy of Broken Beautiful Hearts for an honest review.
Broken Beautiful Hearts is emotional, raw, relatable and inspiring. Kami’s books just gets better and better!!! This book is a true gem and I loved how respectful Owen was but while not missing a moment to say what he wanted.
Peyton is in love with her boyfriend Reed and has a great life where she lives. She plays soccer and has gotten an offer for college. Everything seems to be going great except her boyfriends temper has been getting worse and she thinks it is just stress from having to work and provide for his family. One night when they go to a party and she finds out he is doping, she is pushed down stairs by him. Reed is angry with her but also wants her in his life. He is in denial about what he has done.
Reed’s sister and Peyton’s best-friend decides to take sides with her brother and so does the school. Soon she starts getting threatening calls at home and her mom worries for her safety. She is soon sent out of town to heal and live with her uncle.
She starts physical therapy and meets Owen. He reminds her of why she doesn’t want to get in a relationship, even if he is attractive. He is everything she needs to stay away from, no more fighters, since Reed was everything that she thought she wanted and that turned out all wrong. She has no clue how to trust her own judgement. Peyton and Owen are both dealing with their own issues and neither one of them know what is going on with the other one, just that something is.
Will Peyton ever be able to trust her own judgement again? Will Owen tell Peyton what is going on with him and will she be able to deal with it? You have to read to find out!
Broken Beautiful Hearts is the book that broke me open and mended me back together again. I cannot even say how much I love this book, it is my favorite book so far this year! I would definitely recommend and I am giving it 5 out 5 stars.
“So what’s the trick?”
“Run like hell before they catch us,” my other cousin laughs.
“I mean the trick to telling you guys apart.”
“Obviously, I have cooler hair and I’m better looking.”
His brother laughs. “Don’t give up on your dreams, bro”
Finally, he tucks another strand of hair behind my ear and leans closer. “Let me teach you, Peyton. I don’t want anyone to hurt you.”
“If you really don’t want anything to happen between us, I’ll back off. But it’s going to be hard, and it’s not what I want.” He rests his forehead against mine. “And it’s been a long time since I’ve wanted anything. But if you don’t want a boyfriend, I don’t have to be your boyfriend. I’ll take whatever I can get.”
